An Autumnal wedding at Mount Edgecombe House and Country Park

Full of Cornish charm, this real wedding is set in the grounds of Mount Edgecombe House and Country Park

A budding romance

Rewind from Rachel and James’ Mount Edgecombe House and Country Park wedding. Meeting each other through mutual friends at just 17 years old, Rachel and James started dating when they were 18. By the time their wedding date rolled around, the 8th of October 2022, the couple had been together for 12 years to the day! Originally from London, both Rachel and James headed to the South West to go to their separate universities. Visiting one another at weekends, they fell for the Cornish charm and eventually moved to Perranporth together. James is a surfer and so the pair spend lots of time at the beach. “We love to travel and to be outdoors”, they tell us. And so naturally, they planned their wedding in Cornwall.

An Orangery wedding reception

Set for a 3pm ceremony on their 12th anniversary, Rachel and James said “I do” at Mount Edgecombe House and Country Park. Even though they married in October, the couple were blessed with the weather and managed to say their vows in the presence of their 90 guests outside on the lawns. Then they headed for their Orangery wedding reception, also in the grounds of Mount Edgecombe House and Country Park.

Rachel describes the venue, “We were drawn to have an Orangery wedding reception after seeing the huge windows. The venue is so light and airy. We wanted a minimalist and classy venue and Mount Edgecombe was perfect for us.”

Cornish wedding style

On the wedding morning, Rachel was pampered by hair and makeup artists before slipping into her bridal gown. She said ‘yes to the dress’ at The Bridal House of Cornwall. Studded with pearls from top to toe, the Willowby by Watters gown was perfect for the couple’s coastal wedding. To complete her look, the bride wore a full-length veil with the couple’s initials and wedding date embroidered into the bottom. Complimenting Rachel’s aisle style, James wore a crisp white shirt and neutral suit for their wedding at Mount Edgecombe House and Country Park. He kept the look casual, forgoing a tie, and finished his look with a fresh green and white buttonhole. Rachel’s best friend had the pleasure of proceeding her up the aisle in a bright red gown, paired with a bouquet to match the bride’s.

A traditional white wedding

The couple styled their Orangery wedding reception venue with the light and airy surroundings in mind. Fresh greenery adorned the table centres with church candles flickering in hurricane vases and tea lights dotted around too.

“White and fresh greenery was our colour scheme for the day,” explain the couple. “We wanted classic and timeless styling.”

The modern lighting in the Orangery at Mount Edgecombe House and Country Park added to the couple’s decor, complimenting the modern minimalism perfectly.

Natural wedding photography

Rachel and James booked Liberty Pearl Photography & Film Collective to capture their day. The couple were hoping for “classic and natural” wedding photographs that were beautiful and romantic but not over-edited. Liberty Pearl Photography & Film Collective always strive to deliver natural wedding photography, capturing the personality of the couple and their guests. Their coastal wedding setting lent itself to beautiful, natural couples photographs, while Mount Edgecombe House and Country Park made a superb backdrop while guests mingled at the drinks reception.

A magical evening

As their ceremony took place mid-afternoon, the evening reception rolled around quickly. The candlelight created a magical atmosphere as day turned into evening. Guests celebrated with drinks and dancing – a friend of the couple performed for them – before they all headed outside for a sparker moment.
