Heather and Rob met at university. They didn’t rush into marriage, getting to know one another for eleven years before they finally tied the knot. Traveling to new and exciting places and diving into different cultures is a passion they share. Living in London, they decided they would travel to the South West with their nearest and dearest, to say “I do” in Cornwall.
“Both of us are very family orientated,” Heather tells us. “Our family is very important to us, which is why we planned to bring everyone together throughout the day.”
The couple and their 50 guests headed to the chosen wedding venue in Cornwall, Polhawn Fort in the summer of 2022.
Heather and Rob’s engagement took place on the beach, which became the catalyst for the search for their seaside wedding venue. Polhawn Fort is a wedding venue in Cornwall. Pearched right on the cliff, it boasts spectacular ocean views.
“From the rustic interiors to the sweeping lawns, it’s so beautiful. We love the entrance to the fort. And last, but definitely not least, the view!”, enthuse the couple.
The bridal party all wore personalised robes and slippers as they were pampered, perfecting their hair and makeup. The matching gowns made for fun getting ready pictures and the excitement built as the morning drew on. Staying at Polhawn Fort meant the couple didn’t have to worry about getting to their wedding venue in rural Cornwall on time.
Heather walked down the aisle in a flattering, fishtail gown. Featuring a sweetheart neckline, crotchet lace and a scallop-edged train, she was every bit the bell of the ball. Rob and his five groomsmen kept their look slightly relaxed in keeping with their seaside wedding venue, opting for navy chinos paired with smart navy jackets. The boys’ dusky lilac ties and pocket squares matched the gowns of the three bridesmaids. Each of the bridesmaids stepped out in the same colour but their dresses all featured different necklines, making each one as unique as the ladies wearing them.
With a setting so spectacular, Heather and Rob decided not to go overboard with a wedding theme. Their seaside wedding venue boasts lawns that overlook the beach. Lucky with the weather, the couple were able to say their vows outside. With the sea view making the perfect ceremony backdrop, Heather and Rob were marrying under a timber arch adorned with pink and purple flowers. Matching blooms filled the bouquets. Inside, tables were laid with vases of pink and purple flowers and fairy lights twinkled overhead, creating a cosy atmosphere.
Heather and Rob wanted images that would remind them of their special day for years to come. While they wanted lovely pictures to frame, they were conscious of not spending all of the day focusing on the photographs – and who can blame them when they had so many people to party with!
“Some of our favourite photographs are the ones we didn’t even know were being captured.”
Liberty Pearl Photo & Film captured pictures as the couple moved around their venue. The view created a spectacular backdrop. We whisked the couple away for ten minutes to get some couples portraits on the beach.
