Incredible Autumn Elopement at Ever After – A Dartmoor Wedding with a Difference

As you’re aware, here at Liberty Pearl Photo & Film Collective, we’re huge fans of nature and the outdoors, so we were delighted to be able to capture Leanne and Sam’s elopement.

Held at the incredibly special Ever After wedding venue in Dartmoor, we were able to go deep into the woods to find ruins covered with moss, a beautiful tunnel of trees and a waterfall.

With a colour palette of pinks, purples and peaches, this was one ceremony that simply took our breath away.

Leanne wore a stunning ivory chiffon dress with beautiful shoulder and back detail.

The relaxed look worked perfectly with her flowers, which complimented the theme with that all-important pop of colour.

Rustic and natural were the order for the day – and the wild foliage finished the bouquet off perfectly – enhancing the theme and of course Leanne’s gorgeous flower crown.

But for us, the highlight was the woodland walk that we were able to take them both on, making the most of the grounds.

It really was something quite breathtakingly beautiful and we love how adventurous our bride and groom were on their special day.

It was so great to also work with a very talented team of suppliers.

What Leanne said about her wedding photographs:

“Well what can I say about Amber? She is absolutely amazing!!! My wedding pictures were beyond stunning and couldn’t have been any prettier!!! She was warm and friendly and knew exactly what shots my partner and I wanted! Book Amber straight away if you want to capture the most beautiful images!!! Thank you again, you are a star!!!”

BoHo Cornwall renewal of vows – elopement wedding venue

A beautifully elegant renewal of vows, at the stunning coastal venue Boho Cornwall. Capturing the elegance, tranquility and romance of a BoHo Cornwall Elopement and a sense of this Country House by the sea, with it’s wild and magical setting on the edge of the Cornish moors.
Kat & Ross, were one of our first couples to marry at BoHo. We witnessed their vows and hosted their wedding and have kept in touch ever since. They dreamed of coming back for a stay at BoHo and re-living the experience by affirming their vows.
They were very happy to agree to their ceremony being part of a styled shoot! We wanted to consider the Arts and Crafts era, inspired by the House itself. The dress fits in well with this romantic look. Cornish Cutting Garden created a loose old Masters/Bloomsbury still life inspired bouquet and early 1900’s style headdress with side detail.
It is Vintage and Bohemian – in keeping with Boscean Country House, which was built in 1912 in the Arts & Crafts style.
We very much wanted to convey the love story of a BoHo Cornwall Elopement – intimate, just for two. All about the emotion of the couple being “in their BoHo bubble” with a sense of the wild and romantic setting. An intense romantic adventure in a stunning landscape and property!

5 reasons to consider an intimate elopement wedding

Dreaming of sunshine on your wedding day, along with an enviable landscape and intimate party with your nearest and dearest? With an intimate elopement wedding, your big day is all about you. There’s minimal fuss and little worry about all those extra details. Instead, you’re there to celebrate your marriage with your closest family and friends in a natural setting that’s both beautiful and inspiring.Intimate elopement weddings are becoming more and more popular. And as a photographer, it’s an honour to photograph a couple on their intimate wedding. The weddings I shoot locally and overseas typically feature sandy beaches, sunny backdrops and the beautiful blue tones of the sea. The atmosphere is pretty epic too. With less than 10 people gathered round to witness the ceremony, there’s a real feeling of intimacy and love. It’s a joy to catch on camera.

Of course, an elopement wedding isn’t for everyone – but if you’re looking for a romantic, budget-friendly day that’s just about the two of you, it’s worth considering.

There are some fabulous elopement weddings venues popping up around the UK, I can highly recommend Boho Cornwall, who specialise in ‘just the two of you’ elopements in beautiful West Cornwall. Boho help you to create an elegant, intensely personal experience and will host your wedding with warmth, sensitivity and joy. I can also highly recommend Ever After: A Dartmoor Wedding, in Devon who offer couples laid-back luxury wedding that’s stylish, exclusive and intimate – whatever the weather.

  1. All about you

It can be difficult planning a large wedding, there is just so much to organise! An intimate elopement, however is made for small wedding parties. You can say goodbye to all the fuss of the guest list, seating plans, and décor and just enjoy your celebration of love.

  1. You can wear whatever you like!

With an intimate elopement wedding, you’re free to express your personality. There’s no need to dress in white or opt for something overly formal. You can still have a beautiful wedding dress if you wish or look totally amazing in something more casual.

  1. You can elope anywhere

I’ve talked about sunny, beach destinations but that’s just one of the many options when it comes to eloping. There are so many beautiful spots both in the UK and abroad. Some of my favourites include Spain’s beautiful beaches, Italy’s beautiful cities and villages, New York’s bustling streets and Cornwall’s coastal spots. Other jaw-dropping destinations you might want to consider include Devon, Scotland, the Cotswolds, Greece, New Zealand and Morocco.

  1. Minimal fuss and stress

With fewer guests to manage and fewer details to worry about, there’s a lot less stress leading up to the day. As an elopement wedding is often cheaper, there will be less budgetary stress too. So, instead of spending time stressing you can make the most of the planning experience together and enjoy the romance.

  1. An epic after party

Imagine it: You’re in your dream destination with all your loved ones and you’ve just got married. Could life get any better? Best of all, you’ll be able to enjoy the party yourselves rather than spending lots of time apart greeting and entertaining large numbers of friends and family.

Remember; just because you’re eloping, doesn’t mean friends and family at home get left out of the experience. Book a great photographer and videographer to capture everything and the rest of your family and friends can see and watch your day after it’s happened.

Getting married abroad: Reasons to elope for your big-day

Elopement in Ibiza Europe

Dreaming of a beach wedding? Or perhaps you’re just looking to celebrate an intimate affair away from home, in a setting than means something to the both of you…

Whether you just want to be sure of sun on your wedding day, or you have the perfect destination in mind, there are plenty of reasons to consider a wedding abroad.

There’s something special about getting married abroad. The beautiful surroundings, different cultures, and stunning landscapes… the list could go on. As a photographer, the bright light in sunnier destinations also comes in handy. I’m a natural light photographer so working in the beautiful sunshine is a dream!

Luckily, at Liberty Pearl Photography, I’ve had the pleasure of shooting several weddings in sunnier climes. I’ve shot weddings in Ibiza and in Pamplona, Spain, and every single destination wedding has been beautiful. Ibiza, in particular, was stunning. It was bright and light – and to top it off the couple were so stylish.

Why get married abroad?

Not sure whether to elope for your big-day? Here are just a few reasons you might like to consider…

  1. Budget
Tying your wedding in with your honeymoon can help save considerable costs. Of course, you’ll make huge savings on guest numbers and expenses too. If you’ve got a big family and lots of friends it can be hard trying to limit your guest list, so eloping to a far-flung destination can sometimes be the answer.
  1. Weather
Even in summer we’re not guaranteed abundant sunshine, so if a sun-soaked backdrop is really important to you it might be worth taking a trip abroad. Do make sure you research foreign weather before choosing a location. Some popular destinations, for example, in the Caribbean, are well known for their heavy downpours and erratic weather patterns.
  1. Family
If you have family that live abroad it’s an excellent opportunity to spend some quality time with them while enjoying the gorgeous setting. Of course, these destinations might not always be the sunniest, but they still offer a whole host of excitement and culture to take advantage of.
  1. Special Place
Finding the right wedding venue can be a struggle for some couples. It’s a place you’ll be associating with your marriage forever, so you don’t want to have to settle for the best of the bunch. Perhaps there’s a place the two of you have holidayed together and holds memories of good, happy times? If so, why not consider tying the knot there?

How to get married abroad

If you are thinking of tying the knot abroad, here a few tips to ensure stress-free planning:

  1. Secure your preferred photographer well ahead of your big-day. They will need plenty of notice as it’s likely to take up more than one or two days of their time.
  2. Make sure you do lots of research and firm up legal documentation required and costs before committing.
  3. If you’ve opted for a tropical country, make sure the ceremony is not during the hottest part of the day.
  4. Be as helpful as possible to all your wedding guests. Organising their transport and accommodation is a must.
  5. Make the most of virtual conferencing technology such as Skype to interact with your suppliers and get to know them prior to the day.
