Lessons In Love

Lorna and Darren met at school, but not as students!

“We met while I was training to be a teacher”, explains Lorna. “We are both fully trained teachers now.”

Outside of the classroom, the couple like to spend their time making memories outdoors. Often heading out for adventures and days exploring with their pooch, Dexter. Dexter also made an appearance on the day as the pawfect guest!

The dream country house wedding venue

“When we first visited our Devon wedding venue, Deer Park Country House, we were blown away by the elegant country house”, gush the newlyweds. “The summer house and the walled garden are so beautiful and sealed the deal for us!”

After their visit, the couple set their date for August 2022 and couldn’t wait to explore all of the little nooks and hidden gems around the country house venue during the summer, when all the plants would be bursting with colour. Inspired by nature, Liberty Pearl Photography were the perfect fit for the couple’s desired natural wedding photography. Liberty Pearl met with the couple before the wedding day to discuss a loose plan and decide where we would most like to capture romantic couple’s portraits on the big day. Deer Park Country House has so many different options, and luckily enough for Lorna and Darren the sun shone for their summer wedding and allowing us to explore the grounds for their portraits.

Aisle style

The perfect pick for her Devon wedding, Lorna was breath-taking in her Vanessa gown by Sassi Holford bridal gown. Accessorising the A-line dress with delicate pearl drop earrings and a scalloped lace-edged veil, the bride took everyone’s breath away as she made her way down the sun-flooded aisle in the grounds of Deer Park Country House. Meanwhile, the groom and groomsmen all looked dapper in Midnight blue suits from Moss Bros. Pale pink ties and pocket squares echoed the soft hue of bridesmaid and flower girls’ dresses.

All in the details

A navy and pale pink colour scheme were created with Lorna and Darren’s choice of details. Hints of gold were worked into the colour palette through the table names and signs, echoing Deer Park Country House’s surroundings. A three-tier semi-naked cake was adorned with roses and eucalyptus and a personalised cake topper, while the bride carried a bouquet of white roses and her bridesmaid held a bouquet of pink roses. The couple ensured they had fun with their nearest and dearest, setting up lawn games during the day and a photo booth in the evening. Plus Lorna and Darren weren’t short of props for their pictures bringing smoke bombs, sparklers and a neon sign for magical backdrops.

Golden hour

The couple wished for a magical day full of laughter, smiles and fun and that’s exactly what they got! In view of this, Liberty Pearl Photography captured natural photographs, documenting tender moments and warm exchanges between the couple and their guests. A wedding day highlight was taking romantic sunset shots in the walled garden.

Party time

After feasting on a delicious wedding breakfast, the reception kicked off with the couple’s first dance, which was Bonfire Heart by James Blunt. All of the guests joined the couple on the dance floor as a live band, The IOU’s, played.
