Carri Angel is the founder of the renowned alternative clothing label ‘The Dark Angel Design Co’. As well as designing and producing the company’s extensive range of theatrical costuming she also exclusively photographs and markets the brand.
The unique design of the clothing is visually rich, and lends itself perfectly to her highly creative style of photography.
In 2004 Carri left the UK to promote her work overseas. She has since established offices in Thailand, Singapore, New Zealand and California. She returned to the UK in 2013 and inspired by the spectacular landscape of the South West, settled in Devon.
For the past 18 years photography has been the main aspect of Carri’s creative practice. She has been voted ‘Photographer of the Year’ for two consecutive years by Alt Fashion Magazine and her lavish, fantasy imagery is regularly featured in publications worldwide.
In 2017 she completed an MA in photography at Plymouth College of Art. Her research work explores the detrimental effects of disposable fashion on society and the environment. She is a longstanding advocate of ethical fashion and is committed to promoting sustainability and diversity in the industry.
She is currently working full time at PCA as a lecturer on the BA (Hons) Degree in Commercial Photography for Fashion, Advertising & Editorial.

Hello! I’m Carmen, and I created The Prop Factory. We make props and furniture to hire from recycled materials. We work all over the UK but a huge chunk of our work is in London. The business began 7 years ago from my house with a handful of vintage china to hire. Now we have an 8’000 square ft warehouse in Exeter and have a team 7 full-time staff and plus part-time and freelance staff. My journey to get here has been the biggest learning curve of my life. I’ve had to tackle so many work related issues I had no ideas about like HR, VAT, corporation tax, redundancy, KPIs, pay scales, and such. All these none creative things I had to very quickly learn. We’ve worked with some amazing customers like Facebook, Stella McCartney, Burberry, Selfridges and TV shows like Don’t Tell the Bride, Points of View, Britain’s Got Talent and Children in Need – making props for their event and production needs. I feel like it has taken me all this time to find where we fit in the market and craft an identity for the company. Now I am happy to pass on some of my learning to people on the same journey.
