Chris and Gemma’s Boho Wedding at Polhawn Fort

When Gemma and Chris approached us about capturing their wedding at Polhawn Fort on the Cornish coast, they said their priority was for their guests to have fun.

They were looking for a relaxed and jovial day, not only as a celebration of their love for each other, but for their wonderful friends and family.

Having been together for nine years and now living on Sydney’s northern beaches in Australia, having Polhawn Fort for the whole weekend was a chance for them to spend more time with their loved ones.

The weather might not have been quite as hot as Down Under, but the Cornish coast lived up to its reputation and provided a beautiful backdrop to their wedding.

Gemma looked stunning in her elegant ivory over champagne/blush gown, whilst Chris wore textured blue. It has to be said that he completely rocked his waistcoat whilst the ushers looked dapper with their braces. The bridesmaids’ mint green dresses topped the whole ensemble of the wedding party, which was understated, elegant and fun.

Beautiful from start to finish, the flowers from Ruth Andrews perfectly complemented the rustic and relaxed vibe of the day.

There was plenty of laughter, tears and special moments, as Gemma and Chris made the most of the breath-taking scenery and spent the day celebrating just how they had hoped they would.

Coastal chic wedding at Cornwall’s Polhawn Fort

The summer of 2015 saw a whole range of beautiful weddings, one of which was Jodie and Will’s big-day on 11th July. The couple tied the knot at the breathtaking Rame Church, before making their way to Polhawn Fort, Cornwall – the perfect spot for a wedding celebration.

The stunning setting has always been one of my favourites. Set in a beautiful coastal location, we all enjoyed views across the sea.  As you can imagine, the backdrop made for some pretty awesome photos too! The couple were also lucky enough to experience fantastic weather – meaning we could all make the most of the venue’s beautiful gardens on the fabulous summer day.

Hailing from London, and oozing serious style, I knew the couple would plan a chic wedding day from the moment we met. Jodie was so stylish and looked amazing in her sparkly Pronovias wedding gown. In the words of her husband, Will, she looked like a goddess.

The pastel colour scheme, featuring beautiful blue tones, was perfect for the season too, and completed the couple’s laid back, beach-inspired wedding day. Jodie and Will had so many of their friends down from London – it really was a special day. The couple’s families were fantastic too.

One thing I particularly loved about the wedding was the personal touches and attention to detail. A romantic ambience was created in the church with music from the choir. It was such a quaint, beautiful church and really added that special touch to the pair’s nuptials. The couple also treated their guests to seaside fare with a fun ice cream van, and provided the perfect evening entertainment with a live band – who were fab! There’s always a lot of pressure when it comes to wedding day speeches, but I’ve got to say I was impressed. They were very funny!

I loved every moment of shooting this special wedding day. The location, the wedding style, the atmosphere… it was all beautiful. The whole day proved that you needn’t pick a venue that’s close to home too. Jodie and Will had their heart set on a beach wedding and made all the necessary arrangements to make that possible. The result? Perfection!

Pre wedding meeting – Polhawn Fort Cornwall

Pre wedding meeting – Polhawn Fort

It was delightful meeting both Sasha and James at their beautiful Cornish wedding venue, Polhawn Fort, for their pre wedding meeting. The couple are planning to have their wedding ceremony outside in the Garden House followed with a blessing on the beach. Here are a few photos of the lovely couple on our visit down to the beach; I am really looking forward to the wedding this summer.

Polhawn Fort is definitely one of Cornwall’s most romantic wedding venues, with sweeping gardens overlooking the sea with a beach below.

Polhawn Fort is an unusual and romantic wedding venue on the south coast of Cornwall in Whitsand Bay, near Mount Edgcumbe, round the corner from Plymouth, and just along the coast from Looe, Polperro, Fowey, Mevagissey and St Mawes and Falmouth.
The Fort is set in the midst of an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty on the Rame Peninsula, overlooking the sea at Whitsand Bay, and the long distance South West Coast Path runs directly behind the grounds of the Fort.
