St Luke’s Hospice Plymouth Puttin’ on the Glitz Charity Ball 2015

We had the great honour of capturing the superb St Luke’s Hospice Charity Ball 2015 –  Puttin’ on The Glitz in the fabulous Plymouth University graduation marquees.

The guests celebrated in style whilst making a real difference to patients of St Luke’s in the last months, weeks and days of life; at home, in hospital or at the hospice based in Turnchapel. This was definitely a charity event with a difference!

During the evening, there was a live auction, offering a selection of luxurious experiences and prizes donated from far and wide.

Senior Events Fundraiser at St Luke’s, Emma Winter said: “If you have been to a St Luke’s ball at the graduation marquees before, you will know this is like no other charity ball you will ever go to. The way the marquee is presented, the decor, lighting and food is really high quality, it is simply the ‘Ritz’ of all balls”.

Paul Philpott, Managing Director at Fresh Air Studios Ltd hosted a table at St Luke’s last ball in the graduation marquees: “We had an amazing time at the St Luke’s Charity Ball; entertaining both colleagues and clients. The event was extremely well organised, very high standard of food, great selection of beverages, and fun entertainment. The venue, red carpet welcome, flowers and lights – together with the stunning setting overlooking Plymouth Sound – set for a truly impressive event. Don’t forget your pocket money; as the auction is bound to have a few things worth bidding for”.

Jeremiah’s Journey – A Jolly Toddle at Buckland

On Sunday 11th May lots of families took part in our first ever Teddy Bear Toddle at the beautiful Buckland Abbey. The sun shone as families met and registered for the 2 mile walk. Jeremiah was on hand to say hello and we even had Cinderella there to greet our little guests. The Toddle was completed at individuals own pace, gently strolling through the beautiful woodlands laced with bluebells, the cows popped over to say hello and the sheep were very excited to see everyone passing through!

Using the Explorers Map the children could take part in a Teddy Trail with questions to answer teddies hidden along the route. On completing the walk every child received a goody bag complete with their own certificate and lots of other treats.

Although we experienced a few showers it didn’t dampen the mood as the children enjoyed a picnic and dancing with Cinderella, there was also colourful face painting and a raffle with lovely treats to win, including these delicious cupcakes by the Cheeky Cake Company.
