WE ARE SELLING FAMILY PHOTO SHOOT VOUCHERS THIS CHRISTMAS

Choosing a gift for any occasion can be hard. Not everyone is a natural at selecting presents their friends and family will love. You can get yourself into a tizzy trying to think of something brilliant that no one else will think of. There are so many options and yet all your ideas seem unoriginal and boring. One of the things you should consider is getting people things they can do. They get an experience and to make some memories, instead of just having an item to keep. Family photography vouchers give your giftee both things. They get to spend a few hours doing something fun, and they have something they can keep at the end of it. Check out these top reasons they make an awesome present.

A Present on Their Terms

When you look at experiences for people to enjoy, you might consider certain events. Perhaps you’ve thought about buying them tickets to a concert or a show. However, if you do this, they have to go on the date of the event. That means they have to work it into their schedule, which might be inconvenient. With family photography vouchers, they can choose when to book their studio session. They get to decide when it’s best to use their gift and how they want to use it. Giving any kind of gift voucher offers people more flexibility so that they can be in control of their present.

A Gift That Can Last Forever

Many presents are just fleeting things. They might be an experience that lasts a day, or something to eat or drink that’s soon consumed. The best presents are often the ones that last a long time. The person who received the gift can look at it and remember who got it for them. A family photography session provides both a fun day and gifts that your friends or family can keep. Photographs can last for years, especially now that we can keep digital copies. You can have both prints and files so that you can make more prints in the future. Photos are a gift that keeps on giving.

Destination Wedding – Kristof and Eva Get Married in Le Manoir de Clenord

Here at Liberty Pearl Photo & Film Collective, there’s nothing we love more than a destination wedding.

Kristof and Eva’s French celebration highlighted many of the reasons why.

They had chosen the idyllic venue of Manoir de Clenord, which is nestled in lush greenery in the heart of the Loire Valley.

Destination Wedding France photographer - Kristof and Eva Get Married in Le Manoir de Clenord

They spent the day beforehand celebrating with a beautiful outdoor brunch with their friends and family and then on the day of the actual wedding, the relaxed and rustic vibe continued long into the night.

One of the big reasons they chose to get married in such beautiful surroundings was because of the weather and being able to have the ceremony outside.

Every stage of their special day was as memorable as the next.

The bridesmaids wore different shades of coral whilst Eva’s stylish long-sleeved lace gown by Rime Arodaky perfectly complemented their surroundings.

The flowers were a blend of pinks and corals and looked stunning dotted around the venue and in tabletop displays. Another highlight for us was that amazing wedding awning!

Incredible Autumn Elopement at Ever After – A Dartmoor Wedding with a Difference

As you’re aware, here at Liberty Pearl Photo & Film Collective, we’re huge fans of nature and the outdoors, so we were delighted to be able to capture Leanne and Sam’s elopement.

Held at the incredibly special Ever After wedding venue in Dartmoor, we were able to go deep into the woods to find ruins covered with moss, a beautiful tunnel of trees and a waterfall.

With a colour palette of pinks, purples and peaches, this was one ceremony that simply took our breath away.

Leanne wore a stunning ivory chiffon dress with beautiful shoulder and back detail.

The relaxed look worked perfectly with her flowers, which complimented the theme with that all-important pop of colour.

Rustic and natural were the order for the day – and the wild foliage finished the bouquet off perfectly – enhancing the theme and of course Leanne’s gorgeous flower crown.

But for us, the highlight was the woodland walk that we were able to take them both on, making the most of the grounds.

It really was something quite breathtakingly beautiful and we love how adventurous our bride and groom were on their special day.

It was so great to also work with a very talented team of suppliers.

Venue: Ever After Dartmoor
Flowers: Amanda Randell MDPF
Dress: MONSOON

What Leanne said about her wedding photographs:

“Well what can I say about Amber? She is absolutely amazing!!! My wedding pictures were beyond stunning and couldn’t have been any prettier!!! She was warm and friendly and knew exactly what shots my partner and I wanted! Book Amber straight away if you want to capture the most beautiful images!!! Thank you again, you are a star!!!”

Ollie and Becky’s Special Wedding at Deer Park Country House Hotel

It has to be said that Deer Park Country House Hotel in Devon is one of our favourite all time wedding venues.

Not only is it stunning, but when it rains, as it did for Becky

and Ollie’s special day, it’s still possible to capture some beautiful moments making the most of its country-chic interiors.

And what a wedding it was – it was literally incredible!

Love, joy and happiness flowed in abundance, despite the torrential downpour mid-afternoon – which we’re pleased to say finally let up later in the evening.

Thankfully both Becky and Ollie embraced the weather and smiled throughout – which meant that they now have a set of wonderful photographs to treasure.

And as a bonus, when the sun did eventually make an appearance we were able to make the most of the beautiful golden light and the 80 acres of stunning grounds, in time for sunset.

Needless to say Becky looked stunning in her Suzanne Neville dress, which was offset by the natural flowers from Emma at Brompton Buds. Each of the bridesmaids looked elegantly stylish in their Phase Eight dresses, whilst Ollie and the boys looked suave in their suits by Jonathan Hawkes.

We’re so glad that we were able to capture such a beautiful wedding at this truly special venue. And the sun shining at the end of the day provided the icing on the cake.

We hope you enjoy the photographs!

Chris and Gemma’s Boho Wedding at Polhawn Fort

Polhawn Fort outdoor ceremony Cornwall wedding photographer

When Gemma and Chris approached us about capturing their wedding at Polhawn Fort on the Cornish coast, they said their priority was for their guests to have fun.

They were looking for a relaxed and jovial day, not only as a celebration of their love for each other, but for their wonderful friends and family.

Having been together for nine years and now living on Sydney’s northern beaches in Australia, having Polhawn Fort for the whole weekend was a chance for them to spend more time with their loved ones.

The weather might not have been quite as hot as Down Under, but the Cornish coast lived up to its reputation and provided a beautiful backdrop to their wedding.

Gemma looked stunning in her elegant ivory over champagne/blush gown, whilst Chris wore textured blue. It has to be said that he completely rocked his waistcoat whilst the ushers looked dapper with their braces. The bridesmaids’ mint green dresses topped the whole ensemble of the wedding party, which was understated, elegant and fun.

Polhawn Fort outdoor ceremony Cornwall wedding photographer

Beautiful from start to finish, the flowers from Ruth Andrews perfectly complemented the rustic and relaxed vibe of the day.

There was plenty of laughter, tears and special moments, as Gemma and Chris made the most of the breath-taking scenery and spent the day celebrating just how they had hoped they would.

The perfectly magical Ibiza location for this entirely magical couple. Can Gall is a typical Ibizan country house (finca) which is more than 200 years old, situated in the north and has been totally restored whilst retaining its original charm. You will find our rooms authentically decadent, with the emphasis on comfort to the highest quality.

In the grounds of the finca, growing in the rich red earth are fruit trees, almond trees and some olive trees which are centuries old. The whole estate of 137,000 m2 is surrounded by mountains which makes this location the perfect place to benefit from the peace and quiet in the summer as well as in the winter.

Agroturismo Can Gall is the ideal spot to enjoy a well earned rest, and enjoy the beauty and charm of Ibiza from this oasis on the White Isle.

Watch the beautiful highlights film from the wedding here.

Keep your eyes peeled for more about this stunning Ibiza wedding soon…

Top Tips For Planning Your Wedding – The List Before The List!

So, you’re getting married, Congratulations!

Getting married can be daunting and perhaps overwhelming. Ask any bride and they’ll say that there can be so many surprises on your wedding day, I know this well as a wedding photographer who has photographed over 100 weddings but also in my experience as a bride who planned her own wedding in 9 weeks!
Polhawn Fort outdoor ceremony Cornwall wedding photographer

There’s so much to think about and each element comes with a million choices. Through it all, you want to remain authentic and true to you and your partner’s personality, making sure it’s the magical day you’ve both dreamed about.

So here are my top tips for getting started with planning your wedding:

Grab a cup of tea and write down the 4 most important things for you and your partner on your special day. These are so different for every couple…..

1. Do you have a specific venue that you love whether it’s urban or beach or perhaps somewhere in the countryside?
2 .How many guests would you prefer to have there? Perhaps an intimate ceremony would suit you better, or a large wedding with all your friends and family around you.
3. What would you both like to wear? What will suit the season and you as a couple?
4. Do you dream of pink peonies or peach David Austin roses? Which flowers suit you and your dream wedding?

Deer Park Hotel Devon wedding photographer

Spend a few minutes every day researching wedding photographs that you LOVE and store those inspirational images in your dream wedding Pinterest board. Look at the four priorities you’ve listed in point 1, and pin images that inspire you to plan your dream wedding. Whether you’re traditional or totally alternative, you’ll find images that will help you create your perfect wedding day.

Get organised! One of the most important things for me when I was planning my own wedding was to get the information out of my head, you can do this in to ways; creating an online checklist or getting it  onto paper, and I did both! Your mind is busy enough without trying to remember the finer details. Buy yourself a beautiful folder for all of your wedding planning suppliers and notes. Separate your folder into categories such as venue, flowers, dress and photographer.

If you prefer being organised digitally then use an online checklist, I LOVE the fabulous online planning system provided by WeddingWire. These lists are completely customisable and will manage anything from your ‘to do’ lists and manage your budget, you can even track your progress on each task. This gives you lots more time to plan the fun stuff whilst feeling rest assured the important elements are taken care of!

kippure-estate-dublin-ireland-summer-wedding-liberty-pearl-photography

Start looking for your wedding photographer right away. I know just how quickly a good photographer gets booked up. It’s not uncommon for me to have weddings years in advance! Find your perfect wedding photographer who just gets your personality and will capture your special day and get them booked in.

I’ve had the pleasure of photographing so many amazing couples, capturing their most magical moments together. I love connecting with people and I would love to connect with you too. If you’re planning your special day and looking for a professional wedding photographer that really values getting to know you, then get in touch! We can start talking about all things wedding!

Top 5 Tips on Attending Photography Conferences

Third women in photography conference plymouth college of art international womens day inspire someone today_With the latest Women in Photography Conference just around the corner, I’m often asked how I manage to organise events that resonate so well with those who attend.

When I first launched Liberty Pearl Photography & Film Collective four years ago, I started out with zero budget, but a real desire to be able to share my marketing knowledge and photography skills with others; particularly women.

My starting point for organising any event is thinking about what I wanted to know when I first launched my business. Being able to put myself in the shoes of an attendee really helps me to look at things from a different perspective.

It means I’m able to provide more impactful and useful content that genuinely benefits those who attend.

If you’re thinking about signing up for a photography conference, here are my top five tips to ensure you make the most of your investment:

  • Make sure you have a notebook (preferably hard-back) and at least two pens with you – there will be lots of things you will want to write down
  • Attend with a positive frame of mind and be open to listen to other people’s point of view. Not everything will resonate with you but something may well prove to be both business and life-changing
  • Ensure you have lots of business cards with you – conferences are a great place to network both with fellow creatives and photographers
  • Make sure that you have done your homework beforehand. Think about what you would like to get out of the event and come armed with questions
  • If you’re sent any materials beforehand, make sure you have read them thoroughly before the day too

Although this doesn’t make it into my top five it’s still really important – drink plenty of water! It might sound strange to suggest this, but staying hydrated throughout the day will help improve your concentration levels.

wedding photography business workshop Deer Park Hotel Liberty Pearl Photography Grace Elizabeth

On the day of any event it’s also worth pre-planning your route beforehand and allowing extra time. Think of it like a photography assignment that you just can’t miss. It’s better to be early and prepared, than late and flustered.

Of course deciding which workshops and conferences you should attend can be difficult too. There are so many photography courses on offer, but I think the best way to assess if an event is right for you should include:

  • How qualified is the person taking the course – what have they achieved
  • What subjects will the event cover
  • How well does the content align with both your business objectives and values

Before booking, it’s worth having a look for further information on the organiser’s Eventbrite page.

What does it say to you? How easy do you find the booking process, what is the process both before and after the event? Do you feel as if you have been looked after and your experience has been worthwhile?

Using eventbrite for your photography conference

I really enjoy using Eventbrite to help make my conferences and workshops really stand out. I have to say the top reasons why I use them include:

  • It’s super easy to create an event page and update it when you need to
  • There are 50 million active ticket buyers on the site so your event is more likely to get noticed by your target audience. Plus there is also built in promotion including social sharing
  • I find it’s a great way for managing attendees – I can track sales in real time from any device (super handy for me when I’m out and about on photo shoots)
  • I love how easily I can contact anyone attending both before and afterwards with information / thank you notes
  • But above all else, it strikes the professional chord with me that I think is invaluable, especially when your brand is at the heart of everything that you do.

I hope that you have found this blog useful. Remember, the more you educate and invest in yourself through learning and training, the more you will be able to inject back into your business, helping you to attract your ideal clients.

Our next Women in Photography Conference is on 27th September at The Duke of Cornwall Hotel in Plymouth. If you would like to find out more about the event and buy tickets please visit the Eventbrite page here.

Here’s to your success!
